Bug-o-Meter

By using a stabilized freewheel from a bicycle and a weighted spring on the other side we achieved the ability to translate the linear pull from the flower into the rotational motion needed to for the turning of the meter. A cable is attached to different spoke holes on the hub and when the flower pulls the meter moves forward and after the other cable pulls the hub back to its original position without moving the meter due to the freewheel action. A hundred tooth gear was constructed using a 100 bike links stretched over a disc of metal. Beyond that its just a bunch of funky metal pieces welded and bolted together to describe a meter represented by the little steel loci we positioned at 10 even intervals with a little lighted marble serving as the hand.
