An Elemental Exploration

We wanted to create an installation using the forces of the four elements: (1) the earth, represented by the man who pedals our dragon; (2) the fire, which emerges from the mouth of the dragon; (3) the water, brought to a boil through the heat of the fire, and that slowly turns into steam, (4) the air, represented by the clouds generated by the steam, and which - when turning into rain - will pour water into a mechanical flower that will eventually dip over to splash the water into the fire, in a vain attempt to calm down the waters.

By pedaling our creature, the public makes it spit flames from the mouth, in order to provide new energy to a fire in front of it, on which a large water recipient is being held, so that the water can be brought to a boil. The steam travels through the cloud-generating machine that we especially created for this occasion - where it will be turned into fog, and eventually into clouds, to later turn into rain, that will flow directly into the metallic flower beneath. As soon as the flower fills up, it will dip over the fire as an attempt to turn it off.. and the cycle goes on..
The whole thing is an infinite cycle of forces helping or obstructing each others, a cycle that starts over every time a new individual starts pedalling the beast, and that will only terminate after the rain has come.

Below is a short video of the process:
