Bringing the tree to the Ginger Zone in Scandicci has been much harder than we would have ever expected. But the result was worth it. It was the last day for La Cite' to use their summer location at the Limonaia of Palazzo Strozzi, to be replaced by il Circo Nero (the Dark Circus), and we had to move the tree or it would have been destroyed by a bunch of drunk dark/gothic kids. The van that had been promised to us was however no longer available, and the tree could obviously not fit into the car. The alternative was either to hide the tree in some hidden spot of the park, or to carry it ourselves to Scandicci. In spite of loving the idea of hidding our tree in the middle of actual trees, we decided for the latter solution. The distance from the limonaia to the Ginger Zone is about 2km, most of which is made up of annoying old one-way streets. Carrying the tree was not a viable solution, so we pushed it instead. Fixed upon a small triangular platform with 3 wheels, our tree engaged into a trip which lasted probably more than 4 hours. After successfully avoiding dozen of accidents, we finally made it to the Ginger, where our tree found its new temporary location.

The GingerZone is a glass cube situated in the middle of one of the major plazas of Scandicci. The interior is completely white and minimalistic, with huge windows from every side. This is where we discovered the secret feature of our tree, that we did not have the change to notice before. At a certain time of the day, for a period of time that may vary from 15 to 30 minutes, the sunrays are hitting the tree in such a way that the hundreds of mirrors that represent its leaves are able to reflect the sun in every direction, filling up the room with a millions of small light spots that erratically move around, as the wind hits the leaves of our tree. An amazing and beautiful thing, that made us once again realize, that it is often the unintented consequences of an art piece that makes the art piece so great.
